Description

Reproduction of Jean-Honoré Fragonard's garden scene of a young man in red vaulting a wall toward a startled woman beneath a mossy classical statue.

A young man in a bright red jacket swings himself over a low garden wall, his ladder still propped against the stone. Below him a woman in a white gown with a pink sash starts back on the steps, one hand raised in surprise, while a tall weathered statue of a classical figure with a small cherub rises above them, bordered by masses of dark foliage. Deep greens and a pale blue sky set off the red of the jacket and the white and pink of the gown, with urns and scattered flowers adding soft touches of colour. The mood is lush and theatrical, full of romantic drama and urgency. The original is a painting; this is a reproduction of it.

Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732–1806) was a French Rococo painter known for playful, richly coloured scenes of romance and leisure, painted with loose, spirited brushwork.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
