Description

Reproduction of Hugo Salmson's peasant woman resting on a stick with a wicker basket on her back, gazing over an open field. Muted and thoughtful.

A young woman in a bonnet and apron pauses on a country path, sitting half turned away from the viewer. Her white bonnet and blouse are pale against a deep green apron and skirt, and both hands are folded over the top of a worn wooden stick as she rests her chin on them. A large, empty wicker basket rises behind her shoulder, hinting at long hours of field work, and a muted grey sky and bare stretch of farmland extend behind her with almost no other detail. The subdued palette of greys, greens and browns and her still, resting pose give a thoughtful, slightly weary calm. The original is a painting; this is a reproduction of it.

Hugo Salmson worked in the tradition of rural genre painting, which shows ordinary country life with quiet dignity.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
