Description

Reproduction of John Ferneley's study of a saddled bay hunter standing quietly against a plain warm backdrop, with its bridle picked out in fine detail.

A bay hunter stands in profile with its head turned slightly toward the viewer. Its coat is a rich reddish brown that darkens to near black at the legs and tail. A plain leather saddle sits on its back and the bridle is picked out in fine detail, while the stance is relaxed, with one hind leg resting. There is no landscape, only a warm, unbroken tan ground that fades gently around the silhouette of the horse. The palette is warm and restful, and the absence of any setting gives the image a quiet, focused mood, with all attention on the animal. The original is a painting; this is a reproduction of it.

John Ferneley made a study to record a favoured hunter rather than to tell a story, and the plain background keeps the eye on the horse's outline, coat and conformation.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
