Description

Reproduction of James Ward's glossy bay hunter standing alert in profile in an open field, with rolling farmland behind it under a pale, cloud filled sky.

A single bay horse with a black mane and tail stands in profile on a low rise of bare earth, its neck arched slightly and its ears pricked forward as if alert to something outside the picture. Behind it a wide landscape opens out, with rolling green fields, hedgerows and a cluster of small buildings sitting low on the horizon. The horse's coat is a warm reddish brown with touches of white highlight along the shoulder and flank, its lower legs fading to black, and it is painted in far greater detail and warmer colour than the hazy countryside around it. A pale, heavily clouded sky takes up most of the upper half. The mood is calm and airy. The original is a painting; this is a reproduction of it.

James Ward showed the horse alone in profile, so the eye rests on its build and coat rather than on any story.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
