Description

Reproduction of Paul Cézanne's soft charcoal study of a woman's bowed head and shoulder, built from smudged shading and a hair bun in layered strokes.

A woman's head dips forward and down, seen from above, her hair gathered into a low bun. Her face is mostly hidden by the angle, with only the curve of a cheek and closed eyes visible against a softly smudged shoulder, and a faint horizontal smear across the upper right suggests a table edge or ledge beyond the bent figure. The image is grey and black on a pale ground, with short, layered strokes catching the light along the rounded edge of the bun and tone rubbed into soft, cloudy areas. The mood is private, quiet and absorbed. The original is a charcoal drawing; this is a reproduction of it.

Paul Cézanne left this study loose and unresolved, building form from soft tone rather than crisp outline, so the back and the space around it blur together.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
