Description

Reproduction of John Robert Cozens's view of a wide paved city square lined with Georgian townhouses and a slender church spire, in pale ink and light wash.

Large stone townhouses with rows of tall windows and chimney stacks anchor both sides of the scene. Between them, smaller terraced buildings and a slim church spire recede toward the centre of the square. The foreground is an open paved expanse, broken only by a few tiny figures walking and a small handcart near the lower right. The palette is delicate and monochrome, with pale ink line and light wash under a soft, even light, and the empty paving stresses the scale of the buildings. The mood is calm, orderly and unhurried, with the look of a careful topographical record. The original is a drawing; this is a reproduction of it.

John Robert Cozens (1752–1797) was an English watercolourist known for atmospheric, contemplative views of the Alps and Italy, whose work strongly influenced later Romantic landscape painters including Turner.

FAQ

Is this an original artwork?
No. This is a modern fine art reproduction printed on 200 gsm matte fine art paper, not an original or hand-painted work.

What size should I choose?
30x40 cm suits a shelf, a desk or a gallery wall of several small pieces. 50x70 cm is the usual choice for a single print above a bed, a sofa or a console table. 60x90 cm works as a standalone focal point on a large empty wall.

Does the print come framed?
Only if you choose a frame or canvas in the options, where they ship to your country; both arrive ready to hang. An unframed print ships without a frame, and every size matches a standard frame format, so it fits off-the-shelf frames.

How is my order printed?
Each print is made to order at the partner facility closest to you, which keeps delivery times short and shipping distances low. The product page shows where your print is made: locally in your country, or in the closest country with a partner facility.

Can I return it?
Yes. You can return a print within 14 days of delivery. A damaged or defective print is replaced free of charge if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it. Returns go to our address in Poland, and the return shipping is at your cost; a damaged or defective print does not need to be sent back.
