Choosing a print for your room

Start with the wall, not the print. Measure the space, note the light it gets through the day and the colours already in the room. A print should either echo those colours or give the room the one accent it is missing.

Size and proportion

As a rule of thumb, art above a sofa or a bed looks best at about two thirds of the furniture's width. A single small print on a large wall tends to look lost; a pair or a small gallery wall fixes that.

  • 30 × 40 cm — shelves, desks, narrow walls
  • 50 × 70 cm — above a sideboard or a bedside table
  • 70 × 100 cm — the main wall of a living room

Colour and mood

Botanical and landscape prints calm a room down; bold modern pieces wake it up. Browse the botanical collection for soft greens and warm neutrals.

A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. — a test quote

Framing and hanging

A thin black or oak frame suits almost every print. Hang the centre of the artwork at eye level, around 145 cm from the floor, and keep 15–25 cm between the frame and the furniture below.

Lay the frames out on the floor first, keep the gaps equal (5–8 cm) and hang from the centre outwards.

Caring for your print

Keep prints out of direct sunlight and away from damp walls. Dust the frame with a dry cloth; never spray cleaner on the glass directly.
